I’m a Georgia Cottage Food Baker sharing the influence of my ancestors with decadent homemade treats. This has been a wonderful labor of love.
The majority of my recipes have been passed down from generations of women and men who have that special touch when it comes to baking. Imagine having a recipe that only lists the ingredients with not one instruction to be found. I look forward to sharing!

Sharing the Influence of my Ancestors
Baking is My Love Language
I count myself as one of the lucky ones who experienced life not only as an Army Brat but a Veteran which afforded me the opportunity to travel the world extensively. Add almost 30 years of a Sales & Marketing hospitality career; I can check off a big list of "I've been there-done that".
I have always had an adventurous palate willing to try anything that meets my smell and consistency test. My family hails from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Both my maternal and paternal sides have "Master Chefs" within their ranks. Each household had its specialties and now my first cousins, my sister Shelia and I swap these recipes with the care and promise to keep within the family in a manner that these treasures deserve.
The majority of my recipes have been passed down from generations of women and men who have that special touch when it comes to baking. Imagine having a recipe that only lists the ingredients with not one instruction in sight-you are on your own to interpret while listening for the ancestors to whisper in your ear. If you have to throw away an experiment it's not a problem-Try Again until you make it your own.
After many years of being a regular business traveler, 2020 happened. Furloughed from my Account Executive position with the Crowne Plaza Times Square-Manhattan I spent some time reflecting, adjusting to a new normal, and spring cleaning in a way that would have made my Ma Phine proud. I've always loved to create magic in the kitchen and entertain but the last few years of a heavy travel schedule made it impossible to do on a regular basis. Once again I found that passion which eventually led me down the path to launching @SweetBrownThing as a Georgia Cottage Food operation which allows me to operate from my home-based kitchen.
All of my offerings are created with love from scratch. I take my desserts seriously and want you to love everything as much as I do!
A big thanks of gratitude to those who have supported me along this journey.
